Easy!
Easy!
I have done this many times. All you have to do is go to the Fuji support page, look up firmware updates for the X Pro, and download the latest version. Next is to format a memory card, download the file onto that memory card, insert it into the camera, and follow the procedure on starting up the camera holding the correct buttons down to get the firmware update screen on. Easy to do! By the way, welcome to Fuji, you will LOVE this camera. I am saying this as a longtime Leica user!

Let me add that I'm pretty sure the files need to be in the root directory of the card, and that you can't have any earlier verisons of the firmware on the card at the same time.

Make sure the name listed on the website matches exactly the one that u copied to your sd card. Some computer operating systems will do auto rename if there is a duplicate at the target location (u should not have this problem as a new owner, but next time). Once u have successfully upgraded your camera, rename or delete the upgrade file from both your computer and sd card (to prevent auto-rename from happening).
The buttons in question are the same one u used to check version info, when the camera detects new fw on the sd card, it will ask u if u want to upgrade.
Good luck

Or even on the computer. I struggled with this until someone mentioned it.

Yes.. All previous upgrades are part of latest as far as I understand since they are not doing a delta upgrade approach but a complete sw replacement.

Reformat it first and yes all versions are cumulative. You don't need to do intermediate versions.
Also, don't open the downloaded file. Just copy it to the formatted card. It's a very simple process if you do it in the correct sequence.

Always format the card in-camera. Never delete firmware (or photos) when the card is mounted on your computer (especially for OS X users).
I use and old, slow, low capacity card just for firmware updates.
When you download a firmware file, the first thing you should do is move the downloaded file to a folder outside your computer's default download folder. Label the folder or include a descriptive README text file inside the folder to organize and identify the firmware versions. Fujifilm has an annoying habit of using the same filename for every singe firmware release and this has confused and frustrated countless owners.
