I recently picked up an Olympus 35RC. So far so good. The left-hand side strap lug was broken and quite sharp. So I in my wisdom thought that it would simply unscrew. So getting the pliers on it I gave a twist and it came right out.
A while after I put a film in and lo and behold the camera was letting in light... a thick white band of it on every pic! Yes, you've guessed it, the strap lug I removed actually went throught to the film cassete chamber. What a fool eh? Apart from this leak the pix I got were excellent...sharp and well exposed.
I have filled the hole with some rubber foam and taped the outside edge of the camera and have yet to see if this is in fact proves to be light tight. But can any of you help with regards to a long term repair. Someting an idiot like me can do.
