I am curious about how you will finance your M8 (or M8s).

With 'significant part' I think something like at least 25-30%.

I really do not want to sell anything, but since I literally do not have a lens wider than 40mm, I'm going to have to in order to fit the M8 and a 28 or 35 in.

I will likely part with a Canon 35/1.4 L and perhaps a couple of rangefinder 50mm lenses to cushion the blow.

I'm with you guy...

I have a spare kidney.

Yeah, I do too. Plus Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover...

Or, I could use the money put aside for the new roof on the house.

It's funny when young folk with no sense of humour make the polls. There isn't even a choice like buying lottery tickets of going to Vegas and putting a paycheck on Red or Black...

Seriously, I'll buy an M8 when the M9 comes out.

Well,
this poll isn't very reassuring to me; I was hoping to see lots of "Sell my second M2/3/4/5 body" or "part with surplus camera gear" answers...
So I could seriously consider some of the hand-me-downs...:bang:
What are all you folks going to do with all those 122mm Elmars anyway?
It's OK, though, I'll be saving my nickles for the R4.:D

It is different in that you have the money already and do not plan to sell anything in particular (or have already sold something) with an eye towards financing your M8.

If that money happens to be from selling something for a reason of not getting an expensive camera like the M8, then I think you should use it too.

I regard money as for different purposes, like it is meant for something, or comes from something, but I know others just think of it as "money"..

I'm torn between robbing my local convenience store or selling my nephew into slavery. Seriously, I would part with some of my fim equipment. Getting an M8 would make some of it duplicative and superfluous.

How ARE you going to finance your M8 by buying a MP Vladimer? Engraving it with Mick Jagger's signature and selling it for 30.000 $ on The Bay? :D I can gold=plate it for you if you wish :)

SLR gear

Sell:
1Ds, Leica 19/2.8, 35/1.4L, 85/1.2L, 300/2.8L IS, 24-105/4L IS, 70-200/2.8L IS, 2xII

Keep:
50/1.8 mkI, 90/2.8 TS-E, 1.4xII.

Buy:
Eos-400D, 70-200/4L IS, 300/4L IS used.

Rangefinder gear

Sell:
Leica Elmarit 28 (haven't decided yet)

Keep:
Epson R-D1, 12 and 15 Voigtlander, 75 Apo

Buy:
M8, 24 Asph, 35 lux Asph, 135 Apo-Telyt used.

___________

This will get me to the following setup:

M8, R-D1, 12&15 Voigtlander, 24 asph (maybe also 28 Elmarit), 35 lux asph, 75 Apo, 135 Apo

Eos-400D, 50/1.8, 90 TSE, 70-200/4L IS, 300/4L IS, 1.4xII

I can get all but the lux 35 asph without spending a dime.
So the final cost will depend on the cost of the 35 lux asph (used or new).

So honey, did I make my math right ? :D
