I've tried a couple of old rangefinders; this type of cameras have grown on me. I want to buy modern RF. Leica is an obvious choice but it is outside of my budget. At the moment I am looking at Bessa R2A and Rollei RF-35.
Is Rollei a good camera? 🙂 If anyone owns this camera, what are its pros & cons?

Thanks!

The Rollei 35-RF is in fact a Bessa R2 on the inside. Given the price difference, I have a strong opinion about which one I would choose. One thing that could swing things the other way is the frameline selection. R2 has 35/50/75/90 mm, whereas the Rollei has 40, 50 and 80 mm lines.

The Bessa R2a differs from the R2 by having aperture priority auto exposure, while the R2 shutter is purely mechanical.

There has been an auction for a Rollei RF kit for $750USD. Listed as "mint/mint-", but hasn't sold at that price. If I'd had the $, I would have probably gone for it depending on the remaining warranty.

750 USD for a kit with the 2.8/40mm Sonnar is a good price because it's an excellent (German finished) lens, and the 35RF/ Bessa R2 is still a good camera.
cheers Frank

That's what I thought; the lens was what really attracted me. It's now relisted at $740 (whoo hoo!) ... I'm guessing if someone offered the seller (Igor cameras) something less but still reasonable, he'd do it.

joey, if you realize this, i apologize for stating the obvious

the 35/50/75/90 frameline set supports the more commonly available focal lengths, as peter mentions. more lens options.

i've shot with the R2A. can't go wrong there. no other rf i'm aware of has aperture priority auto exp at that price. great camera.
