Could anyone suggest a processing time for HP5+ film rated at ISO 250 and processed in Ilfosol at a 1:9 dilution at 68 degrees?

Also, which Kodak developer does Ilfosol most resemble, if any?

An alternative for Xtol (5 ltr. packing) is the Fomadon Excel W27 1ltr. packing. It is working the same like Kodak Xtol. Alternative for a higher life span, because Ilfosol/Xtol/Excel is very limited is PC-TEA from Pat Gainer. In 1+50 it is working like Xtol/Excel 1+2. PC-TEA has a life time of 2-3 years.

I have some Ilfosol 3 that I bought probably five or six years ago and have never used -- it's still in the unopened bottle. Is it likely to be good, or should I just throw it out?

But -- is it likely to still be good, or expired? Should I use it or toss it?

hi dave,
i understand that you're curious, but none of us can peek inside the bottle and tell about the status of its content. since the bottle is yet unopened, you may consider to just try it out with a film containing non-unique shots.

if you are too scared to just try it out, for the sake of your peace of mind, toss it.

cheers,
s.

I would do like Ned said and develop/fix the film leader to see if it is still good. I used Ilfosol 3 quite a bit some years ago and I remember that it would oxyde and turn brown quite fast. Nice developer for slow films.
