Hi,
on the auction site: #220041931788
Contax II with 50/2.8 Tessar, currently at 150 EUR with no bidders, ends in three hours. Camera and lens look OK, seller says they're in good shape. And I've just resisted a GAS attack.

I'd say that I was interested in the lens, but I can't buy it. It is the rarer Tessar lens, said to be sharper (stopped down) than the Sonnar 50's.

Well I'm still waiting for my other contax, and I'm out of overdraft to spend, or I'd grab the body, and you the lens

Is the buyer one of us? 182 EUR is still quite a bargain.
That's was my first GAS attack that I resisted today. The second one was a lot tougher: #330045674049 (M5 in good shape with 35mm Summilux, went for 827 EUR) - it's the one Leica I would *really* like to have, with a fantastic lens. I'm getting stronger at resisting this sort of thing. I guess I'll present myself with an M5 once my PhD is done and over.
(Oh, and I love my wife and can imagine her tearing my head off, and I wouldn't sneak that sort of purchase past her.)

I thought the 3.5 was the better lens?

The rigid Tessar 50/3.5 is the one Frank probably meant.

I bought a Tessar 5cm/2.8 that is collapsible. Is it inferior to the Tessar 5cm/3.5?

Yes, if you're referring to the post-WWII Zeiss-Opton or Carl Zeiss rigid 50/3.5.

Thanks. That's OK since the older look may be better for what I am looking for.
