Thats a damn good price

The best camera is one that still works!
That's a really nice looking M6 for a great price ... not that I need one of course!

I wonder, is it the x0.85 (aside from the nice overall condition) that makes the price attractive in this case? i.e. if it were x0.72, would the US $1,175.00 price tag be too high?

It's the fact that its a TTL model, as well as the finder. For someone like me, I like using mainly 35s and 50s, and the .72 finder isn't as good for 50s as the .85 is. I dont really like 28s so I don't mind not having one. It's pretty much the closest thing you get to a modern m2 finder as far as I'm aware.
I just bought a water damaged one and I'm waiting on Youxin to diagnose so I can pay to repair.

the 0.85 is "suppose" to have a higher flare problem.
i have no experience.
the .72 ... if it has less flare should perhaps be worth more than 1175....
who knows..

I think you'd find the .85 fetches higher prices - it's a lot less common. For instance, out of all of the tens of thousands of non ttl m6s produced, only something like 300 of them were .85 models. For the TTL model, the number is much higher but I think the .72 finder is still WAY more common.
As I said, many people prefer the .85 style finder for use of the nice sized 50mm framelines. Youxin Ye and I are amongst these.

.85 may or may not fetch higher price than .72, depending on the market at the time. $1175 is a good price but can be better with patience.

I don't understand American sellers who only want to sell within the USA. Don't they understand they can get twice the money when selling abroad? Each new day we get more $s for our euros.
Twice the money? Where can I sell my M6 TTL for $2500?
I have one in the classifieds now...
I'm all for selling overseas. The exchange rate demands it.

I think most of the time the issue with shipping overseas is lack of good tracking (to some countries) and, at least for me, the real pain in the neck associated with standing in long lines at the post office. If shipping within the US, a package can be mailed via an automated mailing "station", which is quite fast. Packages destined abroad require the "personal touch" of the post worker, which equates to standing in often very, very slow-moving lines.

i have had a couple of bad experiences shipping internationally through ebay auctions. one guy in spain threatened to leave neg feedback if i wouldn't ship him a non-working canonet he won for $8 via ground mail. i sent it ground and guess what? it never got there and i had to refund his money. i have no way of knowing if he ever got the camera or not, but i know he got all of his money back!
i also sent a camera many years ago to japan with insurance and express shipping that the buyer chose and he left me a neutral feedback for high shipping charges! what kills me is that i actually refund any overpayment in shipping to buyers and never ask for more money if i make a mistake on their shipping quote.
one other consideration is that is the US, you have to stand in line to drop off packages over 12 or 16 ounces. you can't just drop them in the blue box anymore...
just my .02...

Selling through a forum is different from selling on eBay. I would sell abroad from a forum but not on eBay, mainly because you don't know who you're selling to on eBay. So you try to minimize the risk: restrictive rules around payment, verified shipping addresses, signature confirmation of receipt etc., etc. All of this is much easier for buyer & seller if you stay within country.

just curious
Look closely at those pictures. I notice a little spot beside the hotshoe, and a shadow on the curtain. Ive seen this shadow on the curtain before, from cameras left in hot places. The spot looks like it could be coating seperation, its not a big deal as it doent harm the integrity of the shell. I would suspect that this camera has been sitting around for quite a while, perhaps in a hot climate. If so then the lubricants will have 'crept' and the mech could be sluggish or locked.
If the seller is genuine and the camera is good, then there is quite possibly a need to have this thing reworked. Add that to the price tag.
