Pretty big ones, thunder now, anyone else got it? It's ruined my plans of photo taking!

the dog's barking now as well :/

Interesting that you would mention this. I'm waiting the new Rolleiflex 2.8C at the ready for cummulus cells to build over the central city during the afternoon. The approaching cells make a great back ground.

With the downpour we've just had, a TLR's little focusing glass would fill up like a cup. I love rain, and would love to get some good photo's of people in the rain, but it got a bit torrential 🙁

here in Chongqing we get some of the most insane lightning storms, because there is so much polution here you dont see many bolts, instead what you see is the entire sky light up as the haze difuses the light and the a crash of sound so loud that you can feel it in your spine.

We had some serious thunder & lightning last night as a warm and a cold front collided over Boston. The net effect was to push tropical storm Beryl out to sea from the Cape but it was spectacular while it lasted. We have had 35-40 inches of rain this spring/summer. Bad stuff.

Just the other night a lightning bolt took out an oil tanker in Providence Port. Giant fireballs were seen for hours over the city. It was amazing.

Now that must have been a photo op!

adding to weather chat...

we are looking at breaking heat records here today, the hottest it has ever been - might go up to 37c.
i was out shooting at 7am and it was nice but by 10:30 i didn't want to be in the sun.
too damn hot.

37? that it??

I'm soooo sure it got to 40 here the other day, but I can't trust that little thermometer. According to BBC weather it was maximum of 36, but midday til 5pm I didnt want to leave my chair indoors

ahh!! More impressive for you at 37 then! Our temperature is usually between 0 and 15 degrees C. I was happy to see we had sunshine recently, now its rain again!

It was 118F (47.8C) in Phoenix yesterday - what I would give for a monsoon storm right now!
Nick

The last year I lived in Phoenix we had two consecutive days of 122F, with 100 straight days of 100F+ days in a row. We used to joke about the two seasons in Phoenix--- Summer and Hell.
