Dear All,

The massive earthquake and the accompanying Tsunami killed in excess of 60,000 people and left millions homeless across Asia. Please donate whatever is required through Red Cross International. I have just volunteered to go to Aceh with my hospital's mobile team. Pray for me so that I will be picked.

Regards,
Peter

Wow, that's a great move Peter. Like Peter N said though, stay safe.

I'm not sure the situation in Aceh at the moment but less than a year ago IIRC, my dad was working there and it was declared war zone because of the clash between Indonesian military and GAM (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka).

Good luck Peter,
My ARES/RACES team is also waiting to hear if they need radio communication teams over there. God speed.

Peter, what can I say. The extent of the devastation is truly beyond reckoning. I hope you get your wish, and are able to help out over there. They need all the help they can get (so guys, can I put in a plug for you all to get a donation to Red Cross? This is the single biggest disaster of our lifetimes).

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you Peter for your service, and the reminder to others to take action. As I drove to work yesterday I was very affected by the reports of the growing number of casualties related to this disaster. Without really going to look, or the desire to find out that I am wrong, to the best of my knowledge this is the worst natural disaster in my lifetime by far. My thoughts immediately came to the thought that we are affected here on the RFF as surely some members of our community may be involved. We can only pray that the involvement is of the kind in which Peter is undertaking.

Surely there are relief funds being set up across the globe to help the victims of this terrible event. As always the Red Cross Societies in your countries will be involved. I have provided a link to the International Federation of the Red Crescent so that you can see the global efforts they are mounting. I have also provided a link to another organization here in the US, Americares, which I think highly of and are very involved in providing direct swift relief across the world when there is a need. I provide the links so that you can easily find some information about what is happening. For those who can and wish to, you can also make a donation at both of these sites, or you can seek out the Red Cross agency in your country, or surely support another agency which you know will be involved in humanitarian efforts.

Thank you my friends for the generiosity towards the poor victims. The worst natural calamity of our life time could only be overcome through the solidarity of mankind. It also make us question the futility conflicts and quarrels among nations. I do hope that this incident will bring the world closer. I am still waiting for the final list of nurses going to Aceh.

Thanks for volunteering for your hospital's mobile team Peter. I just sent a donation to the Red Cross earmarked for assistance to the Tsunami victims.

Hurray! Just got the confirmation that I am picked for the mobile team! Now waiting for the date that we are to be shipped out! Thank you for the donations for the victims of the Tsunami.

My skills aren't needed there, so I did what I could do and didn't buy a new lens and two 10packs of HP5 but donated the money.

Peter, godspeed and our thoughts will be with you. I donated to the Asian Flood/Earthquake fund of Oxfam Canada and hope these accumulated donations will help the survivors through the aftermath of this terrible natural disaster.

Gene

Peter I did the same as Gene and donated to Oxfam America marked for the Asian Earthquake Fund. Thank you for your call to action and know that we will be thinking of you as you care for the unfortunate victims.

Please be careful and come home safely. My wife and I will pray for you as well as for the victims of the tragedy.

Best Regards,
