Thank you to everyone here for your awesome pictures and discussions that convinced me to return to a rangefinder 10 years after selling off my Bessa R for some unfathomable reason. I've never owned a Leica before. Now I do. It's the lowly M8, but I've got to start somewhere. :)

I'm rather startled by the very good picture quality (pictures of the inside of my room so far). Thanks again, everybody.

Hell, start somewhere? You've got one of the finest digital camera for black and white! Have fun! I'm quite jealous hahaha!

Don't ever sell yourself, or your M8 short! I have been in a program in which I can borrow gear from Leica and after several weeks with an M9 over the Summer and just returning a Monochrom after having it for three weeks, I appreciate my own M8 all the more for the experience. Sure, there are nicer things about the M9 and the Monochrom, but for me, an M9 is a long way away and a Monochrom is just not in the cards. If someone gave me an M9, I would be sorely tempted to sell it and buy another M8 body and a nice lens. The M8 has its shortcomings, but so does everything. There is something differ about the M8 files and especially since I do a lot of black and white conversions with Silver Efex Pro2, shooting the M8 without the IR filter is hard to surpass, except by the $8000 Monochrom. Enjoy your camera and carry it confidently and proudly!

Thank you very much, guys! I'll definitely take your experience to heart, Pastor. I like old stuff anyway.

P.S. - Apologies for opening this thread in the wrong forum section.

Congrats! nice bit of kit.
Owning an RF isn't necessarily admittance to RFF, we love EVERYONE!! Even Pentax Q users.

Congratulations! The M8 is anything but "lowly"! I own both the M8.2 and M9-P and at times I prefer the images from the M8 over the M9. Enjoy working with your M8!
