Okay, I get it that Leicas have some collectible values.. but this thing ain't gold. Only Rich Leica nerds would giddy up to this... then they'd only have other rich Leica nerds to sell it to... for less money I'm sure. I don't see this thing appreicating anymore..
The Noctilux is the Aspheric Version produced in the early '70s. Still too much, KEH would ask $4K for them.

Everyting looks bent, dented, bruised, chipped or heavily rubbed. At 10.000 US you get a very authentic and actually used camera. Very collectible indeed!

Well now you understand why Leica came out with the MP and the MP3, complete with rub-off paintjob designed to look like a worn-out black 60s Leica without having to use it for 40 years. (Actually, from my experience, the paint just scuffs and scratches easily, mine didn't look anything like an authentic brassy black body after more than a year of frequent use, but that's another story). Actually KEH has a black M3 in "Excellent" (which from my experience means it looks a whole lot better than the one on ebay) for "only" $8000.
It was commonplace over on pnet to see the term "collector" used as if it were a four letter word, but that was just the result of some angry, miserable people trying to suck the red out of other peoples' apples. IMO (and in the opinion of 99.9% of the rest of the world) collecting is as noble a hobby as shooting pictures.

Black paint M3s are quite rare, and, for reasons that I cannot comprehend, the more brassing they have, the more valuable (Lewis Carol would have loved that one).
But if you want any indication of how much this seller is betting on the gullability of deep pocket collectors, look at some of his/her other items; one of them is a $2200 LTM rigid 50 Summicron. I don't think so.

look at this one, originally listed for $2000, now increased to $2600, the seller must have aimed at rich Japanese collectors, but there are more Japanese dealer on ebay than collectors, there for almost 2 months now, still no sale, what a guy.

WC FIELDS, PT Barnum was credited with "there is a sucker born every minute"
his friends tried to claim he really said a CUSTOMER born every minute, however that does not explain the sign that said "THIS WAY TO THE EGRESS" many of PT Barnum's customers went thru the door looking for the "EGRESS" to find themselves outside and needing to pay another admission in order to see the rest of the show OR get back to their families

I can imagine you guys being shocked, but you should be shocked about the folly of mankind, not about this price, as it is well within the range asked for this camera by reputable dealers. This site: http://www.schouten-select.com/ is interesting for it's high quality and high prices. There is a Leica-converted ( so not original, like this one), reasonable state black paint M3 with Summicron M35 for about 14.000,-- $ there.I remember a few years ago an article about a Ferrari in California that had been standing outside in desert conditions for twenty years. It looked even worse than expected. You and I would probably have driven it to the breakers yard. But the owner reconed having it resprayed would probably diminish its value by about 100.000 dollars!

What a stupid concept!
"OOOhhh they only made 6 M7's with the Blegium flag painted on it. I ought to pay an extra premium for the privileg of owning one.. maybe someone else will want it more than I do after I buy it!!"
Then you take the belgium M7 outside... some guy walks up to you.
"Hey dude, is that one of them M7s with the Belgium flag?"
"Yes sirrr, it sure is!"
"Wow, great camera!"
"Thank you"

As I said-The folly of mankind. I can see you are not an antique dealer by profession, nor an auctioneer. These are intangible values, and they are legitimate. If somebody wants to pay more for an item than I find it worth, let him, it is his money, it is not a personal affront to me. Btw, there were 30 Belgian camera's made.

Exactly. What's the big deal if someone wants to pay a lot of money for a knick-knack, whether it's a beat-up Ferrari, M3, or Vermeer? It's all nature's way of recycling extra cash. Everyone comes out ahead: the "rich nerd" gets his goodie, the dealer gets his cash, & wise-asses get to feel good making fun of "rich nerds."

Now that one is definitely sucker bait. It's a plain-jane 2nd-generation 6-element 35 Cron, 1969-73. Not a Type-1 8-element in black, which would be a rare bird.
