Yes yes I did it again, I picked up another black zeiss ikon today, from another dealer this time. I hope this one works out better then the last one.

It was quite a fight to get to this point, my father insists that I cannot shoot street photos with a 35mm camera and it HAS to be done with a 4x5. Not to mention he also forbid me from spending money on this camera, but to hell with him, he is on the other side of the world, I make my own money and put myself through everything, and besides, more then a year ago I sent my mamiya 6 and two lenses back to him in the states to help me sell and I never saw the money, he instead took it and bought a caravan.

Anyway sorry for the rant, im in a really lousy mood these days, must be the weather.

It should be here tomorrow and then ill go put some film though it.

I wouldn't forgive him for getting a caravan... let alone it being with the cash from a Mamiya-6!!

Good luck with that camera. I'd love to try the newer Zeiss Ikons.

heh, you sir must be one of the top gear faithfull, death to all caravans!!!

and yes, I was quite stunned how my 1250 dollars turned into a caravan instead a check back to me. I should never have sold that camera in the states....

I wondered if you'd get the Top Gear reference! :D

I'd send him an invoice for the full amount if I were you. If he doesn't pay the invoice then get a debt collector's letter sent. ;) (I'm talking empty threats since I'd hope he's nice enough to pay you back)

only those people here in china who have really really really really good English can watch that show, everyone else just drools over the pretty cars. I love that show, its so hard to get a hold of here...

oh, and about my old man, its been what....15 months now...im not holding out hope...

Get yourself a letterhead, and write a professional looking invoice, like you get with a camera purchase. Send it him via recorded delivery. And watch the sparks fly :D

Matey boy was on Jonathon Ross the other week, he's got another 'destroying cars in america' style DVD out

uhhg, thats the problem, here the only top gear stuff I can find is whatever shows up on emule....btw thats how I justify downloading tv shows, I cant watch them here and I never buy their advertising stuff so its free either way...

may be he can also get you a 4x5 for "street shots" as a mamiya replacement ;)

yeah, I can imagin the look on his face when I told him he was inside for even considering using a 4x5 for street photography and not to mention that when I showed him how much a linhof folder was he shut right up and started talking about medium format digital....

If I still had my pc with tv-in card I'd record it for you. But other than send you a VHS (or maybe DV) tape there's not much I could help with

Just do what your girlfriend thinks is right for street photography. She's closer, plus ...

Congratualtions Avotius, better luck with the shutter this time round I hope. The black ZI is seriously cool, I am expecting many more images out of it like the excellent series made with your GSN. Enjoy!!! :)

Hey! you are 22 you have a girlfriend and zeiss ikon? you must be a prodigy! congrats!

you know this is your fault, I saw you buying so much damn stuff these last few days that I couldnt hold back and splurged, its a good thing I didnt have enough in the bank for an m7.... Thank goodness I can borrow an old 50 cron from a friend and I didnt splurge on the lens!!!

I will remember that. I got my zeiss ikon here right now, I got a lens on it and dry fired it a few times, no jam this time! But alas...when I took it out to shoot today I noticed the rangefinder is so completely off at infinity. When the lens shows infinity the rangefinder rectangles havnt even come together half way. Whats up with that? Is there a DIY fix or do I have to send this one back too.....

btw, anyone else thing the 50mm lines on this thing look a wee bit small?

ps. I cant see the shutter speed readout unless I move my eye to right right and look left, I wear glasses, when I take them off its still kind of in the corner of my eye and I cant see it too clearly but I can get used to that.

pps. on my first roll of film I ran through the camera I turned the winder on the bottom the wrong way and the film broke off in the camera, luckily I was able to rescue the film in the darkroom but eep! gota watch out for that, ive been using the yashica gsn too much I guess. Ill scan something up and post later.
