perhaps it's a form of amusment for some but these stooopid f*****g threads will eventually lead to the end of days as we know them...

Well, apples are better than oranges. And after all, we are all photographers and if we don't have something pointless to argue about, what would we do?

Black or chrome discussions are worse. Straps and bags. Red dot or not. I sometimes wonder if the contributors there can pick out what to wear by themselves, or if they need to call their moms every morning.

Wanna know what I'd like to discuss: Why is there no "shrug" icon?

Personally, I think camera boxes that use a metallic finish are better than ones that use a simple spot color. And what about the color of batteries? That subject is hardly explored.

I don't mind the debates, I rarely takes sides. But the exchange - if I have time - sometimes I learn something. Overall, I bet most RF'ers have both, and IMO, there isn't anything wrong with that. The workflow that film takes is sometimes a P.I.T.A. but usually worth it. The convenience that digital offers, I like most here, probably appreciate it as well. It's like painting a picture with oils vs acrylics. Which one is better, dunno, I see great results from each.

Tolerate Stupid frickin threads arguing film vs digital, get stupid frickin threads about film vs digital.

Could do what APUG did. No more frickin film vs damned digital threads.

Film?Digital?

Film?Digital?

First did film, resisted autofocus then adopted, then resisted digital then adopted. Now I am ditching the SLR and going both digital and film with rangefinder or rangefinder format cameras both manual and autofocus.
The one thing I noticed is that you can't take a photo if your didn't bring the camera with you.
I was photographing at the local state fair grounds with a micro four thirds camera and a spare lens in my pocket. I noticed a group of photographers (camera club?) wandering around with huge backpacks, tripods and mega zooms. Why carry all that crap when you are a few feet away from your car. You would have thought they were in the middle of the wilderness.

Agreed, the weight would be a major killer for me.

I can take those film vs digital threads for a few seconds, then go away.

The ones I find really dumb are those about Leica lore (the best Leica was the M4, the best viewfinder is the M3's, all the metered cameras are junk, all cameras after the M4-2 are junk, all aspherical lenses are perfect, all 50mm lenses are perfect, red dot distracting... you get my drift).

See ya later! :)

Discussions regarding self-determination are at the basis of philosophy, political philosophy, religion, and many, many other fields of study. As is the question of how many of the world's ills are the fault of mothers. these should not be bandied about lightly nor referenced with derision.:D

Is there no "shrug" ikon, or does it only seem that way?

Other week I started an all important thread about K. Rockwell convincing me that the Leica M9 is the best digital camera in the world in the Leica M9 forum & it get's moved into the off topic forum. Now we have a "I hate all these film vs digital" threads in the philosophy of photography forum? Maybe it's time to moderate the moderaters:D Only kidding, but I agree with Brian. Do like Apug & delete them!

Film versus Digital ?

Insemination and out of womb gestation is far less messy and much less effort than copulation and pregnancy but I aint yet heard anybody suggest we should give that up.

Anything photographic that concerns any RFF member is legitimate material for consideration, no matter how many times you have read the same without your mind being able to develope any new thought.

Is a thread boring to you ? be my guest and initiate a more interesting one. Be smarter and throw a good jocke.

But to criticize a thread because You consider that what intersts You and closer friends is what should rule - this sounds as a sort of free thinking intimidation.

Bored with something ?, P L E A S E either skip it, bring something else, or be constructive. But the worst of the worst is trying to gather clicques on behalf of shutting mouths. A thousand times worse than "repeating" (to your opinion) any issue already discussed.

Cheers,
Ruben
