i keep drooling over cameras that i would love to have yet i know i would barely use them!
i love film cameras but using film, not so much these days...

There's nothing wrong with this....buy some you like very much and can afford easily - purely for aesthetic pleasure, not as photographic tool. Cameras aren't worse than fur coats and brilliants. Well, hard stones can be used to cut glass...you see, anything can be tolerated 🙂

I could be fine with camera in my cheap phone, but I still can find use for 70 y. o. 120 folder and recent DSLR.

likewise...medium format is more of a pull to film than 35...i had a couple of mamiya 6 bodies with 2 lenses way back when...loved it!

Same here. I have 2 LTM's, 2 M4's, 2 Nikon FTn's, 2 Rolleiflexes, a Rollei 35S, a Speed Graphic and a Calumet monorail. I have a bunch of b&w film in the freezer and all the gear and chemicals to process, plus 2 scanners, but I haven't shot a roll in several years. I should probably sell at least half the cameras, it does seem a waste to keep them just for display, but they have sentimental value and are far from mint, having served me well for many years. I really have no urge to buy any more film gear though.

I know how you feel, I have a few 35mm film Contax, Olympus and one Nikon S3 and
you know I don't use them. I always think I will but nope they just site there not
being used. I just take my dslr's or other out to shoot. There's a guy in my area who
want me to buy his Hassey, that would be a nice change.

The issue for me is, I can afford to own cameras that I could only dream about owning, until recently. But there is a catch, (there's always a catch), so now that I can afford these masterpieces the choices of recording medium is becoming narrower...

yeah, the film thing is a concern...the best lab in town stopped developing any film a couple of years ago! the selection is down too...

I find that I still do a lot of dreaming but it's creative dreams as I explore the various film systems that became legendary. 😀
It keeps life interesting.
