Looking inside, I don't believe it was the best thing to do. What a tangle of wires and circuitry and fine mechanics!

The problem was that I find it underexposes by at least 1 stop inside (st to 'inside'-mode) and by very many steps outside even though the battery checks out fine.

The thing one pushes in front of the window (where it lets the light trough to meter) is it just a thin semi opaque plate of sorts?

What am I to focus on if I just want to make a CLA of the Meter? I suspect that is all that is needed to make it meter correct.

Generally all the meter needs is a good cleaning and adjustment. I haven't done one in years but I have done quite a few in the past. Remove the cover, clean with a good electronic cleaner (they used to make one for cleaning TV contacts that didn't harm plastic). Try Radio Shack.

Make photos during the proces of dismantling and when putting things back together. These may be handy as a repair manual for others. Good luck!

Wow, not to beat my own drum, but by the looks of things <i may just be the first person on the face of the earth who successfully took a Leica Meter apart, repaired it and put it back together again :)

Thanks for the links, without them I would have been completely lost.

Glad they were of some help to you.

Just developed my first roll using the Meter and it's on the button. Couldn't expect more!!

Excellent - and by a strange coincidence I've just given my MR meter and MR-9 battery adapter away this morning and lo and behold they worked perfectly and were accurate. The new owner is very pleased with them - dunno why they didn't work like that for me!

I had my two meters looked at by George Milton and they both work very well... but now I admit to having abandoned them in a bag. Must check that the batteries didn't leak.

They are really good and accurate! :) Thanks for posting your story... and yes, feel free to brag! :) We understand you.
