a lot. can't separate out all the factors that are new, they all contribute. Really enjoy RF experience, feel and weight of RD-1 with a 35 lux on it. Really like the lens itself (1st time shooting a leica lens) but definitely see a lot to love in the camera itself. The files look rick, with great tonality. This is pic #1, Raw, developed with ACR in color and B&W. Best...Peter

Nice. I prefer the B&W but then I always prefer B&W. Welcome to the club :)
I've love using this camera, to the point its reawakened my interest in film photography and I've ended up buying a Bessa T :)

I like the B&W in that it removes the emphasis on color and instead lends itself to show the textures and grain of the wood logs.

thenagain, that's pretty much how all B&W works. I'm not complaining.

Is the RD-1 your first RF?

Yesterday, after I cast my vote on an electronic touch screen voting machine, I felt dissatisfied. I've voted in local, state, and national elections since 1976, and have always felt "good" about voting. I'm not trying, or intending, to be political or partisan -- I enjoyed the act of voting and droping my paper ballot into the ballot box. The electronic touch screen voting machine took that satisfaction away from me.

I have a Nikon D70, a fine camera that is better than I am. However, it is just like that electronic touch screen voting machine -- Dissatisfying. The RD-1 is much more like the punch card paper ballot. You become part of the process.

I hope this makes some sense. I, like Tero, love using the RD-1.

Take care,
Michael

thanks guys- I also prefer the B&W. I may be prepared to see it this way with my sense of the beautiful B&W that Leica M cameras and lenses have produced for years, and this is my first day, but I see better tonal separation and a more pleasing B&W with the RD-1 + 35 lux than I =have gotten with my DSLR's for sure. I can see going heavily to B&W in this new world....Peter

I am a b&w lover, and normally prefer it, but in this one I prefer the colour! I think it actually brings out the textures better. Maybe different b&w post processing would change that for me.

Hi- yes, first one to own, first time ever using one other than a few shots with the M8 at the Photo Plus show on Saturday. I really like the method a lot, and after using lots of big glass and bodies (I've done a lot of sports) the compactness is liberating.....Peter

Michael- It makes a lot of sense. I feel like I'm partnering with the machine and I'm calling the shots. With my DSLR's, especially rapid acquisition auto focus work, it feels like camera is leading me around. Visually, the RF is much more engaging, as I read it would be. It forces you to decide what the frame will be, much better for composition I think. And, I never shot film. I've been staring at LCD feedback for almost every shot I've taken, if only for a fleeting glance. I love turning the LCD around and just having to look at the subjects and frame, gives me something I definitely missed out on never having shot film, let alone RF......Peter
