after cleaning that canon 35/3.5 lens, i specifically took that lens and another roll of hp5 to the park where i had taken the original shots that showed the lens flared badly.
now i can't find that second roll of film.
i remember taking it out of the camera but that's it. not in the camera bag i was using at the time, not in any other of the camera bags, not in my jean's pocket or coat pocket, damn, damn, damn!!
i thought that maybe i re-inserted it into the camera so i took that roll out of the camera and just developed it, blank! doh!

so where is it? :bang:

That sucks. I lost 4 rolls of 120 (delta 3200) from my trip to Europe when the customs people scanned it to death. I simply forgot to take it out and pocket it. Damn DAMN!

I feel the pain of losing film. Aweful feeling - almost makes you think about shooting digital . . . but only for a moment.

I'd start where I unloaded the camera. If in the car, search thoroughly; if at home, check under all the cushions and if there's a pet, quiz concerning new toys.

Joe, losing a roll of HP5+ is unfortunate. If it would have been a roll of Lucky, well, you would have been lucky. Anyway, that's one thing that has never happened to me, though I have a long list of non-photography items that seemed to have disappeared.

I lost a roll of film once. It involved changing film while balancing on a log in a swamp. Fortunately the roll that went into the leech infested soup was the unexposed one I was putting in the camera.

i remember taking the film out in the coffee shop on saturday morning.
i used the empty can to put an external finder into and then changed my mind and took out the finder. i put another roll into the camera.

it's not anywhere i have looked so far.
maybe i left it on the table at the coffee house?

Not the same roll I hope.
I started tearing the leader off exposed rolls after almost reloading a roll once.

Phone the coffee shop! I tear the leader off exposed rolls, also, especially if it's b&w that I'm going to process.

i normally use a seperate pouch in whatever bag i'm carrying at the time.

years ago, i spent the day shooting only back alleys, used up about a dozen rolls of tri-x, i think. i have never seen any of those photos as i lost that film also, all of it.

this isn't so bad, it was just a lens test...

I thought your CL disappeared in a closet somewhere!

:)

Joe,

While you are at it see if the rear cap to my 50mm Summi turns up....

Thanks,

Bob

Film seems to take up a life of its own sometimes...

One day I was on my way to the minilab to get two rolls of film developed. This was in the summer of 2004. Got in the car, tossed the film on the copilot's seat and at a traffic light, I stopped and saw both canisters fall on the floor of the car.

When I reached to pick them up, I only found one: a color Superia with shots of a garage sale or some other thing. The other was the one and only roll of BW Portra I had shot after giving away all the stuff I had purchased... and, frankly, wasn't too interesting either. In any event, the film roll was nowhere to be seen. I parked and searched the car (under the seat, the rugs, rear seats, all over)... and found nothing. I gave up and decided that when we sell the car, we must tell the new owner of a ghost film roll hidden somewhere in the car body.

Recently, maybe three months ago, my wife came into the house with a film roll in her hand. It was the "lost" roll of film. She just had found it while searching for something she had dropped inside. Imagine... that roll was there, in hot and cold weather, stuck somewhere, for around a year and a half!

I haven't developed it yet. It's sitting on a bookshelf, and I keep forgetting to take it to the lab. All the time... :)

All of it?!!! You need an assistant!
No! No! Didn't you watch that South Park episode with the Subway diet guy?? He had aids! (2 assistants) :D

I think its definitely under the car seat. Things fall out of my coat pocket all the time and fall between the front seats. Once recently, I felt it fall, and saw the thing (black metal cigar cutter) between the seats, down by the seat belt whatchamacallit, I just couldn't get it while I was driving. Well, I looked under there for 3 days, with flashlight, and I couldn't find it. Pulled out the carpet, disconnected the electrical thingys under there, nothing. I didn't want to forget about it only to have it reappear someday within reach of a child, so i kept looking, and there it was, perched perfectly on top of the passenger seat rail, which was also flat black. They both were the same exact width, and it was a very dark crevice.
