Guess what that gem of a man brought me today? Not one camera, but two. The first was a Yashica GSN, BUT the other was my Kiev 4 back from Fedka :D. It was CLAed AND Yuri has informed me that after a thorough cleaning the meter works. I haven't had a chance to test how accurate it is yet (worked a 12 hour shift today). I can't wait to try it out this weekend.
 
Where'd you get that mailman? I'm thinking of trading mine in. I've been waiting on a Siberian gem for 55 days and counting! Congrats on the parcels... Enjoy!!

edit:P.S. ~ I was in Madison briefly yesterday... geez, construction cranes have come to nest!
 
it's always exciting when the mailman brings you toys.

My computer is getting back from "the shop" today. I can't wait for Mr. Mailman to arrive.
 
My mailman is a lovely 19-year-old Danish girl on a bicycle and dressed in a red and black uniform, complete with little cap.

She's love-able, and all she brings me are BILLS...
 
Hey, take a photo of her, I want to see what Danish mailmen-girls look like. This concerns me only from a professional point of view, being a postman myself...;)
 
I'm not so happy with mine. Not only has he not delivered any gear he left me a nasty letter from the IRS....I can't wait for the next snow storm so I can taunt him!

I have a good friend who has been with the USPS for years. I hold him personally responsible for every mis-handle, every long wait, every bill. I really try to give him a hard time, but he just grins and says, "That only happens to people who we have on 'The List.'" :eek:
 
Mail..ie letters ..bills ..etc are brought by a lovely young post-lady..parcels..i.e cameras ..etc..are brought by a burly man in a van and I'm sure he knocks on my door with a feather!..uhmm
Another trip into town to the sorting office with the card saying..'We called at bla bla..!!

I've thought about it several times, partly because she's "a babe", and partly from some kind of cultural documentation perspective, i.e., how much longer can Post Danmark afford to have bicycle mailmen/women - perhaps they will not exist for too much longer?

What's stopped me is that I haven't gathered up the nerve yet to ask her, plus I'm not home that often when she comes around. We'll see...

Why would you say that? Delivering mail by bicyclists is rather economical in my opinion when the distances are reasonable. Like in suburbs with rowhouses and single houses with moderate distances between mailboxes... Longer distances (30-80) km will be in the sphere of mail vans, whereas densely populated (blocks of flats) areas have their mail delivered with a cart.

Anyway, that's what we do here. Petroleum is expensive and you'll deliver less mail in equal time when driving a van in the countryside as opposed to cart-routes in city centers.

Documenting "babes", that is always economical.
