But it seems to have gotten completely lost/ignored on Flickr.
So, objective eyes: does it work? doesn't it work? Why/why not?

Just me....but no, I would have liked a bit more of the background activity shown.

Thanks for the comment Dave - the photo was actually a mistake: the scene behind was a class of school-kids in the Pompidou Centre in Paris getting a lesson from their teachers (in various levels of boredom/intrigue). As I pressed the shutter, the woman walked infront of the camera. I quite liked the (accidental) result: the two sets of children divided by this huge head...
But I see what you're saying (it is a HUGE head!)

I agree, if the head was a bit smaller in the frame it would be more interesting. I like it though. It's unexpected.

Woo hoo! Thanks Mabel (although I feel I should now delete the thread: after all, it is now no longer completely unappreciated

Colour and light are nicely handled, but it does leave me wanting to see more of what's happening in the background -- and almost frustrated that the out of focus foreground is blocking so much of the shot. It is as if my eye wants to naturally follow where the kids are looking, but I'm prevented from doing so ...

It might work for me, if the head would be just a little less oof and took less space. Generally those kinds of images (large oof area in the foreground, esp. people) work for me though, yours might if I look at it just a few more times.

You've either got really bad timing, or focusing issues.
