Many of the photographs are what, in retrospect, were the last days of the woollen industry that dominated West Yorkshire for 200 years. Much to my chagrin, there is so much here that I remember, but it never occurred to me to photograph at the time- these old mills were just there, like the sky and income tax. Their very ubiquity rendered them invisible.
Nice touch in a Grauniad article. They inserted a photo of Ian Beesley, South African gangster, rather than Ian Beesley, photographer. Typical.
