V is for Voigtlander
Hi All,
Recently returned to bulk loading film for cost and convenience. I love how nice it is to simply roll off a short roll of film to go out and shoot. I have an Alden 74 loader and it works great. Loaded with Ultrafine Extreme 400, off I go. I decided that it would be nice to have a choice of stock so I recently acquired a second Alden 74 from eBay at a great price. When it arrived, I discovered that it was already loaded with something like 100 ft. of something... I have no idea what stock is loaded but it would nice to know and maybe shoot some.
Question: Besides processing for the latent image edge numbers and film ID, is there anyway to figure out what is loaded? And is there a universal developing process that I can use just to get to those latent IDs regardless of B&w or color?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Mike

Black and white developer should get something from any film stock, enough the read the edge markings. But you can identify colour neg film by the orange mask.

Cut 15 frames, develop as regular 400 bw. Read the edge, google it. I never did slide, but C-41, ECN-2 will develop in bw chemistry.

Thanks all. I’ll run the stock later this week.
