If you were unable to shoot with a RF camera, or even a digital camera with RF like OVF, what would you do? Move to SLRs or other type of cameras or give up on photography?

This is a hypothetical question to see how important the RF camera and its OVF is to your photography. Think about it and really imagine what would you do with no RF cameras.

LF, 13x18 cm/5x7 inch or larger. If you lose the immediacy of a rangefinder, why piddle around with compromises?

On second thoughts, put an optical VF on top of a digi.

On third thoughts, this is so hypothetical as to be meaningless.

Cheers,

R.

One of my favourite things on the Intertubes is when people take time to comment on threads they think are stupid or, as the case may be, "meaningless". What is the point? To assert your self-importance?

FWIW, film SLR.

I like RF cameras for certain kinds of uses, but my go-to preference for the past 50 years has been SLR TTL cameras. EVFs are new, but they're taking the place of SLRs for the mainstay of my photography.

By and large, RF cameras are somewhat limited and have a modest applicability to my photographic interests.

If as the OP asked "NO RF existed", then it's an easy answer for me it's any of these 3 = Nikon FE, Nikon FM2n, Nikon FM3a - they are as good and as similar in size shape and well almost in performance too as any M mount RF camera.

SLR no doubts. Actually, because my canon 7's viewfinder is kind of dead I "moved" to slr until i can fix it (i use both but i used to use the canon more)

For 35mm I don't think I can use SLRs anymore, maybe a nice F100 or F6. I guess a high end P&S like the Ricoh or the Contax, or maybe one of the new (gasp) digital Fujis.

Life would go on...it wouldn't be the end of photography for me...I would miss using the wonderful Zuiko lens on my Olympus camera but I have others...
Rangefinders are for when I have all the time in the world to shoot and I want to be super quiet...
