I like the metal feel of the older GW series compared to the plastic ones of today. Has anyone ever dropped and cracked one of the newer cameras?

Jorge - I own a GW690III and the GSW690III, and although I have never dropped either one, I think they are extremely tough cameras. I know that I will never get rid of mine - especially now that they have been discontinued.

In general, I too prefer the solid hefty feel of a metal body. However, black plastic seems to withstand everyday wear and tear better than black painted metal. Also, in the case of the Fuji GW, I prefer the design/style of the plastic GWIII compared to the metal GWII.
I never dropped my GWIII, but in a fit of disgust, I did throw another plastic body camera across the room and was surprised how well it withstood the abuse.
