I took my IIIc to attend my graduation commencement at last Saturday. After commencement over I check my IIIc and find brass eyepiece paint I used black marker to paint brassed inner paint worn off. This time I am considering to solve this problem, so should I buy IIIf's black plastic eyepiece or new IIIc's brass eyepiece?

Why not use flat black spray paint on the one you have. It's easy to remove it for painting. Beware the 2 small round glass pieces could fall out so be sure to keep the camera front down when you remove the eyepiece..

Golden artist acrylic paint, carbon black, flat if you can find it, and a small brush, should do the trick nicely. Just be sure to clean the metal with some alcohol, air dry and when the paint is dry, heat-set it with a hair dryer set on 'high' heat. Best you remove the piece from the body because of the heat-set.

I use a special flat black primer intended to go on aluminum for autobody shops. It is dead flat and sticks better than anything else I have seen on aluminum or brass. You can paint over it with enamel, lacquer or nitro paint. I use it as a base coat for any camera painting I need to do.

For your eyepiece this should be just fine by itself.

It's available on line or at specialty auto body shops..
