Hi,

I recently picked up an Ikoflex III for a very reasonable price. The only issue is that the underside of the focus screen is dirty. It looks like there is moisture buildup, but it might be something oily. The camera itself works fine, glass is clean and clear... so no obvious signs of moisture. However, it was repaired at some point in its history because I can see scratches on the relatively dust free mirror.

My question is what is the best way to clean the ground glass? I have an ultrasonic cleaner, and I was thinking of dipping just the ground glass portion in some plain water.

Also, how do I remove the finder? Is it just the 4 screws I see from the inside of the hood?

I appreciate the help!

Thank you,
Peter

Fixed.

Fixed.

I took the hood off (4 screws on the inside corners). It came off with the ground glass attached. Then I removed the ground glass and cleaned it in my ultrasonic cleaner.

I cleaned half at a time, while holding it by the opposite corners. Also I used distilled water so that no water spots would remain after drying.

While I was at it I also cleaned the mirror and the back of the viewing lens. Now it looks great and is quite bright. Almost as bright as my 2.8C with split prism screen... not bad for 1939.
