Ilford Ilfosol noob question

I want to try my hand at developing for the first time. I like my black and white prints contrasty. Would Ilford Ilfosol 3 at 1 + 14 be the ticket?

I'm working on editing some scans of some Arista Premium 100 that I process this morning in Ilfosol 1+14 for 8.5 mins Agitation 30 second to start then inverted the tank twice every 30 second there after. From my very very limited experience the results are not exactly what I'd think of as contrasty. Of course with a different type of film or change in processing your results might be different.

well i was thinking a delta 100 for about 9 minutes in it would give some nice results. but of course i'm new to all of this.
