Ilford XP2 Super test results

Interesting.
To my view, exposing at 200asa would be better for people shots (skin tones) and 400asa would work better for outdoor, scenics, etc.
Just my style, others will enjoy it other-wise ~ ; - )

That is correct. XP-2 with a yellow filter, burned @ 200, gives beautiful flesh tones. ISO 320 for everything else.

Thanks Marc! This appears to confirm my own preference to expose at EI 250 as a happy compromise between acutance and shadow detail.

Your commentary (which I'm surprised to say I could understand in French as well as English) didn't mention your method of determining exposure? Calibrated meter? Incident reading?

It's probably because I wrote it in French first and then translated it, keeping the exact same structure.

I used the internal meter of my R2 which is center-weighted. I must say that this meter is so good that I my handheld meter stays home now. If you look at my latetst pictures (RFF gallery or my web site), you'll see how good it did in a snow storm at night. I enven use it a bit like a spot meter, measuring high and low light areas. It really works.

For normal street shooting, I burn mine @ 320 in my SLR's and all but one of my rangefinder's. But since my OLY RC has no 320 setting, I use its 250 setting, and am quite satisfied with the results.
