Fransisco, Ilford (Harman Technology) make black and white photography products, paper, chemicals, and film. They probably make about 10 types of negative film.

Ilford used to make cibachrome paper which was for printing colour slide film. That paper was renamed Ilfochrome and is still in production. But the Ilford company split into two companies. The UK based one is called Ilford Harman and they make Black & White film and Paper products. The manufacture of Ilforchrome paper for colour slides went to the Swiss company called Iford Imaging

Kodak makes several good B&W negative films. As does Fuji. There are other less-common brands too, like Foma and Efke. I suggest googling all of the above and look at their websites.

All films are good. They are just different. Do you want colour or B+W.
For black and white you have Ilford, Kodak, Fuji, Adox, Agfa and a few others.
For colour you Have Fuji, Kodak and one or two others.
