I've been hosting the R-D1 FAQ website http://www.richcutler.co.uk/r-d1 for several years now, despite not having owned an R-D1 for four years!
The time has come for me to move on and close it down...
There's a lot of invaluable info for R-D1 users, and it shouldn't be lost, so I want someone to take over.
I'll send over the files for the entire website to that person to host on their own server.
I'll provide a forwarding link from my website in case anyone uses the old address.
Whoever takes over can edit and change the files however they want. I'm not imposing any restrictions - well, OK, three:
• Any copyright lines from people who kindly allowed material to be used must be retained.
• There must be a link to my website http://richcutler.co.uk - it's not commercial but simply my photography portfolio.
• Whoever takes must be committed long term to the R-D1 website. It must not suddenly disappear. If they no longer wish to maintain it, they must ensure someone takes over.
Rather than contacting me in the first instance, it may be a good idea to talk things over in this thread, and for interested people to throw their hats into the ring. If you can come up with a consensus as to who you want to take over, brilliant!
And don't worry - I won't close the site until I can pass it on.
PS: though I appreciate thanks, best not to clutter this thread with them...

i understand. I will soon no longer have an R-D1 myself. But I still consider myself a fan of the camera. I can check with my ISP if I have enough space to host a site like this. Do you have any idea as to the size of the site Rich?

Since I have the R-D1, I'm thinking about creating a Website for it. I have a Root-Server rented since 6 years now, an I am willing to give your contents the space and to reorganize and update the contents.
My website is www.mempool.net, but if you go there, you will not find any contents, because all the contents are private for several years and only visible to the invited. There will be a public gallery, but this is a project, that runs for some time now, and will take some more, until it's finished, because I'm writing my own gallery-generator program.
I don't know, if I'm qualified, because photography is not my profession (it's a hobby) and my contributions to this community are not that recognizable, yet. I'm a computer-scientist, so I'm qualified to run a good web-server, and I'm passionate about the R-D1, which I will keep, even if there will be a M9 or whatever in the future. - So, if no one else volunteers...

I'll mirror the site in a non-blog format if you like. Here is a mirror I've created. If you like, I'll leave it up just so the valuable info doesn't disappear, if not, I'll take it down. I have the space so it's no big deal. I have no interest in profiting from the info. Just an example. Not trying to steal your hard work.

Web hosts and people come and go so perhaps it's a good idea to have multiple mirrors to make sure the content doesn't disappear? I've never owned an R-D1, but I make and maintain web sites/servers for a living and it would take about a minute to set up an exact copy of your site on my own server; I'd be glad to do it.

Can't recall the site's exact size - I'm not at home at the moment. I think it's about 5-10 MB.

I will happily host the site. You're welcome to send the files via email, Dropbox, or we can do FTP. Your preference. I'll send you a PM with my details.
Thanks for creating this great site, btw.

Looks like there are better options available than whatever I could supply. Good going people.

IMHO the best solution is to have those informations on several servers.
They're too precious to be lost.

The only trouble with multiple servers - unless the website is truly mirrored - is error creep... one of the reasons for my website's usefulness is that there's not several others with conflicting info on, say, rangefinder alignment.
I'd prefer one RELIABLE person to look after it - unless some of you want to collaborate in hosting and ensure that you all keep your copies identical.

WE HAVE A SOLUTION!
Don't know why I didn't think of this before!
Stephen Gandy (CameraQuest) - has kindly agreed to look after the pages. I think this is the best and most reliable solution.
Thanks for ideas and to those who offered to host the site.

Rich, I was actually thinking of creating a R-D1 specific site at r-d1.info, and as an R-D1 user I'd like to add to it in a separate section, actually.
I have plenty of hosting, lots of long-term projects, so once it's up it's going to be up for a long time. So if you wouldn't mind reconsidering . . .

Looks like a lot of people are willing to host it. I can offer hosting the site as well. I am a system administrator and I have a server that can host multiple sites.
