Industar-69 mod for R-D1

Hamish and others:

I should point out that the ring to be filed down is on the lens assembly itself - the next section of metal outboard of the end of the threads. On re-reading Brian Sweeney's description, I realize he may have filed that ridge down so it was smaller in diameter. This would make it possible for the helical to thread deeper into the mount because it is now narrow enough. I originally interpreted the recipe differently, filing the face of the ridge down so it doesn't extend as close to the threads as original. Wish I'd had the presence of mind to shoot photos while doing.

Christian,
I have such a lens, but it is sharp at f 8 and it vignettes with 35mm cameras. I have not used it at apertures larger than 8.0. I wish that I had your "hands" to modify lenses!

Raid:

Well mine was a pretty ham-fisted job. Only tools were a tiny screwdriver and a 12" long flat file. I protected the glass with a layer of tissue then duct tape to keep filings out, then "did violence" to the aluminum. I took some care to clean everything afterwards, and lightly lubed the threads. The lens works well now, but I'd hate to show anyone what the innards looks like!
