Hi,

I recently acquired a Rowi Infrared rotary print dryer. There's as good as no information available on this printer and I was wondering if anyone can tell me something about infrared drying or this dryer in particular. What I've found so far is that it's suitable for RC paper (don't know about FB paper). Other than that, I haven't found a whole lot.
I've also read somewhere that infrared drying gives you better blacks (is this true?) than you would get from air drying it.
Basically, I'm trying to figure out if I should keep it or not. I don't have a darkroom right now, but I'm really hoping in the next year I can find a space to set one up. I should probably make someone else happy with it.
Does someone in the EU happen to look for an infrared dryer? ;)

Thanks!

Hi,

I have one of these, well, two actually because I bought a second one for spare parts. They work very well with RC paper al long as the foam of the transport rollers is not desintegrating. If it is you will get black gritty stuff on your photographs (which you can wipe off most of the time, not always).
You can put FB through for a first dry. The emulsion will not have any drops left, but the paper will still be very damp.

Hope this helps...
