Hi everyone,

I was willing to buy an new r3m for 650$ but i had an offer for a used Leica M6 for 1000$.

The body show signs of wear. Obviously, it was used. But the mecenical parts look good. The reseller told me he used it for three months without any problems.

What would be the best choice?

For me, the best choice is the leica, because it feels better to me. The only way to tell what's best for you, is to pick up and handle both cameras, and if you can't feel the difference, then count yourself lucky and buy the R3M.

I own both an R2 and an M6.

The leica has a longer rangefinder base, you can focus better wth longer/faster lenses.
And, it keeps its value, you could end selling it for about the same price you paid...

This is a tough call.
The M6 is a great camera but has it's drawbacks; viewfinder flare, meter that has been reported as being sketchy at times, and it's not auto exposure.

That being said, viewfinder flare can occur with the R3M as well but the viewfinder is an immaculate 100% - I loved the viewfinder on my R3A when I had it. The R3M is a bit louder than the M6, not built as "solid" as the M6 is but has a wider shutter speed range (I think it goes to 1/2000 no?)

If I didn't already own a Leica; I'd opt for the M6 if I could afford it. If money were tight I'd obviously go for the R3M.

I don't know what your financial situation is, but figure that you may need a CLA for the Leica. No way to know that & it doesn't come with a warranty unless you're getting it from a dealer. The Leica is a better camera.

As long as dollars are not an issue, I'd opt for the Leica because you can resell it if you don't like it & because I wouldn't want to be restricted to a viewfinder whose widest lens is 40 mm with 40 frame lines that are hard to see.

If money's an issue or you're in love with the 40 mm focal length, go for the R3M & enjoy it.
