I was talking to Joel Meyerowitz on Thursday lunchtime prior to his talk on his "Aftermath" project and book and he noticed my R-D1. He apparently was not aware that there were now digital rangefinder cameras available, especially ones that he could fit his Leica lenses to. He played around with my camera for a few minutes, "thanking me for the gift" (perhaps I should have suggested a swop for a couple of prints :D ) and was quite impressed, but I expect he will order an M8 now he knows this is available as well ;) . I was hoping some 'magic' would rub off on my R-D1, but it dosn't seem to have yet ;) .

He is of course these days better known for his large format colour work than 35mm, but he still uses his Leicas and some of the pictures in Aftermath are with these as well as large format. He's a good speaker and had some interesting stories about the difficulties of taking photographs at 'Ground Zero'.

Attached are a couple of pictures taken durring his talk. R-D1, 35mm Cron, 1600 iso.

You mean some people are not surfing the web 24/7, and are actually out taking pictures. This is devastating news for me. I may have to mend my ways.

Good job of marketing, Epson. What's really depressing is I was talking to a long time friend and Leica film user, and he hadn't heard of the M8. You would hope that the few photographers who still use the Leica professionally would have heard of the new digital M8. And whats worse, he knew about the RD1 (thru me, of course) and liked it.

Sometimes we forget that everyone doesn't hang out at photoforums 24 hrs a day, speculating on the nuances of every new development.
