Well my Leica Free UV/IR filters finally arrived yesterday, ordered back in late February. Those like me with the non-asph 35mm Sumilux have the problem that it takes Series 7 filters which are not offered in the free filter deal. I did a quick check and found out the 49mm size seems to fit into the 12504 hood filter tray. So i ordered one from Leica. Well it does indeed fit into the hood filter tray and works fine. The only thing is that it fits with the threads out, toward the subject. So those of you in the same boat, you can order the 49mm filter and now be IR problem free.

If you carefully remove the glass from the filter and grind down the mount and reassemble it will be close to a real series filter. This may be necessary for the 135mm 2.8.

I had thought about getting one of the filter ring tools and exchanging the filter elements with a series 7 uv filter i have, if it did not fit, but it does and i am perfectly happy with how it fits as is. that is a good idea for thoe wth the 135 though.

Um, you COULD just get a 7-series ir/cut filter from B+W. They DO make them. I bought mine from Tamarkin a couple of weeks ago.
