Looks like my dad is heading to Iran next year. I scraped together some cash and it looks like I'm going to be able to go with him!

We'll be in Tehran and Tabriz most of the time but I'd like to get out a day or two and go shoot in the street(s). I have asked my father about the customs in Iran regarding photography but he doesn't seem to think that there will be any problems.

Is there anything I should be aware of / look for when shooting? Anything I shouldn't photograph?

(I'll be taking an M7, a 24/2.8, 50/1.4 and a Rollei 3.5F)

Iranians are very friendly, and very family orientated. I had no problems at all taking photos there. Just don't photograph military or police related, including buildings, vehicles, personnel (same goes in many countries).

If you're there in late March, you'll get to experience Nowruz, which should be a lot of fun!
