Is the 86 mm lens rare ?

Hi friends,

Just a quick question... I have for some time been looking for a 85 mm f/2 lens to my Nikon rangefinders. There seems to be very few out on the market just now and I have not seen any in the Classified section here at RF which is the place I prefer to buy my stuff on. When looking at E-bay there are a few but they are very expensive. For example:

4500 USD !!

Just to check with you experts here - what is the going fair price for a user 85 lens ?

Fair price for a good user is under $500 for a black version and under $300 for a chrome barrel version (a little heavier, optically the same). The prices do vary. They are not rare, but they don't change hands often enough to establish a set price/value.

ps - saw that I made a typo in the heading and asked for the price on an 86 mm lens and not the 85 ... I guess that one would be rare !??
