I checked one out at Walgreens, and it seems ideal for an RD1 and a lens or two, even a lunch or other goodies if expanded a bit (unzipping zippers lets it get bigger)
Anyone own one?

As to your question:
"A classic chick look that only Buxton offers"
Opps, I meant to write 'chic'. My bad.

Re: Organizer
Re: Organizer
I checked this out and I think it would work out perfectly, but I asked my wife and she thinks it looks too much like a purse. I'm really inclined to get one. If any one gets one before us let us know what you think.

No, it's not a purse. It's a "shoulder organizer".
Get one and call it a manbag, or a murse. Or an attaché. Or a european carry-all.

hmm, those amazon reviews are interesting, I wonder if the reviewer complaining about the size realized that there are hidden zippers around the thing to get it to expand.
Yes, it's cheaply made, and I was going to just get one if it rang up at < $10, but it rang up at $19.95 so I thought I'd ask the experts here first ...
I still might get one with the next $5 off $20 Walgreens coupon, or if they go on clearance. It's a cheap bag, with cheap zippers, but a bit of padding, or could be modded with padding in some of the exterior 26 pockets or so. I'm trying to figure out which is less purse like, the 5fxa, or this made for tv sling bag with a novel expansion design.
The sling is also very lightweight, but sewn to the bag, so no plastic hooks to get in the way, looks like it would be safe for light use, unless a zipper jammed.

I thought a murse was one of those roughly triangular shaped backpacks with one shoulder strap. I was ruthlessly "purse-cuted" by my male friends when ever I used it

Do not buy that. Make your own bag. Here is what I made with a army surplus bag, a camping pad, some tape, velcro, and tyvek. Im surprised at how well it turned out, and how easy it was to make.

Thanks Pitxu, I like the zorki a lot, too.
Sure, I could make another, but let me field test this one to see how it holds up after a few weeks.

actually I prefer to be a European with a purse travelling to the US than an American with sandals, hawai-style shirt and oversized backpack travelling in Europe
and looking for the next McDonald's ... ouch

HaHaHa!!! You sure have us American's pegged. Love it. Of course I'd never do that. When we travel we try to enjoy the local businesses, restaurants, etc. Otherwise, why travel? Oh, you'll never see me with a purse/murse/manbag or whatever anyone wishes to call it. Mine is a camera bag, no matter what I carry in it.

Sadly the young british dont look so cool nowadays. I use a brown canvas messenger bag from Muji, something like $40, works great

Listen to Pablito.
Always look at the zippers, fasteners and seam-stitching on those finds, and decide if you really trust it to carry $2K worth of stuff that weighs a couple kilos. A lot of the 'finds' are fashion items that won't last more than a year. The mil-surplus stuff is almost always well-made.

Ah. Well. Those are the ones you can spot. Others get asked for directions, in the native tongue, while hanging out.

I'm looking for something to carry that doesn't look like a camera bag...and that's just a bit outside of my insecure manly comfort zone.

I now use a Kata W-92 fanny pack, that I modified. The W-92 is not made anymore, I believe. I hate wearing fanny packs and the W-92 came with a shoulder strap. I cut off the waist strap, changed the interior a bit, added another shoulder strap and made a few more modifications and I now have the greatest shooting bag in the world.
That is, until I change gear again, and I will once again be on the hunt for the Next Greatest Bag.
But seriously, for what I am shooting now, this Kata bag is almost perfect. Almost.....
And no, I would not be caught dead wearing that Buxton bag.
