Just sharing some shots (street, mostly) from Italy. I was there for a couple of weeks and covered quite a few towns.

Will post more photos as i edit them!

I do like number two - for a moment I thought the statue was real and you'd interrupted a private meeting. The last of the first post has a lot going on as well - I would not have had the nerve to include the woman on the bottom right.

Thank you gents, Gid, i guess luck was on my sight when i shot that. I did a double take when i imported the picture over from my memory card. i was just aiming for the kid!

JSU, the shots were all DNGs, edited via CS5. Some local adjustments (curves etc etc) before being converted to B&W via Silver efex pro. Usually via the Tri-X filter and then some minor tweaking again (contrast, brightness).

Grazie, 39per1..

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip. I was particularly taken by Genova..it was such an experience to explore the winding back lanes.

7) Siena's Piazza del Campo.

Thank you JKY and Boiu.

Boiu, i used the Silver Efex plug in for Photoshop to edit the raw files..

it seems you had a good journey through Italy, which is where I live! Next time please PM me, maybe we can have a drink. I shoot some related to me places! I lived in Vicenza more than 20 years, I was in Pienza a couple of week ago, and I start to go to school in Genoa (which was too many years ago!). I like your photo, with a preference for 1-2-3).
Personally I find a little too contrast in the Giuliet's House photo but the expression of the woman is very great! Well done!

Thank you Haigh and Robert!

Robert, now that you've mentioned it it does seem that my contrast is alittle too boosted in the shot of Juliet's house (my eyes hurt!).

will tone it down if i ever make a print (if my lazy ass actually bothers to get down to the stores to buy ink for my Canon 9000).

I personally perfered the smaller towns with less tourists (Perugia, Genoa and Bologna come to mind). I found Turin to be alittle depressing, but can't put a finger on what made me feel that way. (But the most depressing place was Rome's Airport, i never did manage to do my tax claims due to the queue which seemed to be snake longer than the one at St Peter's!)

One more -

10) Genoa

11) Genoa

In the '50s Turin was an industrial city based on activity of car manufacturing (FIAT) and its supplier. Industrial production now has been moved to various other places and the city is trying to find a post industrial asset. But the process is long and not easy. I do not know Perugia but Vicenza where I lived is an excellent town not too large not too small, still human.

The girl in the corner is making the last shot - I hope you have a closer shot of her...
Looks like you had a good time in Italy, just your photos are too underexposed and contrasty for my taste...

Taskoni, unfortunately i don't...i edit my shots to be that way but you might have a point that the contrast maybe be bumped up a little too much. I am usually alittle overzealous with the contrast slider...

Anyways, a shot from Genoa..

it's always nice to see how strangers look at our country (I live in a town near Genoa), but I liked very much your photos. Your black & white shots look like they were not digital, and this is a great thing. A beautiful portfolio, but this photo is at the top, imho.

ps: the write in the wall means: "the white walls cover the abuses"
