..the whole frame in the viewfinder seems to shift a little and when I get down to the close focus it shifts alot.

what's going on, does my camera and lens need CLA?

This is normal for a Leica M - it's the parallax compensation, which makes up for the fact that the lens and the viewfinder aren't in the exact same location. As focus moves, the framing area in the viewfinder moves to show where the lens is actually pointed.

Assuming you just got this camera.

Glad to see your VF is working correctly, however, if the advance is not really smooth, or if the slow speeds are obviously slower than they should, sending the camera off to Yeoxin for a CLA will be worth your time.

Use a flashlight to illuminate the lens and take a good look inside, Yeoxin or others can take care of any cleaning at a reasonable rate.

If you bought a 50 year old car, you would have it checked out.

thanks guys

man, it's hard enough for me to focus and now all this other stuff is going on in the frame.

it's tough:bang:

The frame lines shift, but do you find it that distracting? I honestly don't even notice it, as my attention is on the focussing patch. I reframe anyway, before pressing the shutter.

Maybe with practice you will find it less noticeable/troublesome.
