Cormac McCarthy's Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter sold for over $250,000 back in 2009. He turned around and bought another for under $30.
I don't know if any of the Kerouac machines have sold or if they remain at the Kerouac house in Florida. I'm surprised his Leica sold for so little.

A IIc from a batch of nearly 10,000 made between 1948 to 1951

Around 11,000 were made in total.. yet the IIc is not that common today...I wonder if many were converted to a IIIc or a IIIf?

Jack's copy of Alan Watts book THE ART OF ZEN was estimated at $300 and sold for $8000!
