I recently acquired a mint looking Yashica Lynx 5000E. Everything looks great except that the film door is stuck. I push the door latched to "o" and pushed it in but the door won't open. Is there a way to open it safely before I send it out for service? I suspect the door seals might have gummed out.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't own one, so I waited to see if anyone else chimed in first.
There is also a chance that the door is so tight the latch did not withdraw. Try gently squeezing the front and back together at the opening while moving the switch to "O" and see if it opens.
Hard to believe that even the gooiest of seals would prevent the door from coming free. Preventing it from springing open, yes, but not sealing it tight.

What if you remove bottom cover and access door latch directly ? If something is bent or displaced, you could see it in the same moment.

Thank you for the suggestions. I manage to remove the bottom plate and after a few tries was able to push the door latch open,. The foam seal hasn't gummed after all. The latch just got stuck for some reason. It's good as new now and I can't wait to use it this weekend.
