Sorry, this is rather last minute but tomorrow is the start of a 6 day, Secondhand Camera Fare in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
I already have a couple of "Orders" but was wondering whether there were any members that might have suggestions of things that are worth keeping an eye out for..
Now, I am not talking about the high ticket nor any highly rare and collectable items.. but things that are perhaps getting harder to find on the bay or a particular item that you’ve had problems getting. ie. a hood for a particular Canon/Canonet etc etc.
I have no doubt that the majority of booths and customers will probably be after “Collectables” but I have found these fairs a great place to find Hoods/Filters/Cases etc. and the majority is quite reasonably priced.
I have attached the Invite that I received. As you can see the Camera they chose to put on the invite is an Black paint M4-MOT with a price tag of 504,000 yen approx US$4,800.
Perhaps I shouldn’t go…. Or I should leave my wallet behind and just take enough to get around…..
Mike.

If you fear that you will spend way to much money, dont go 🙂 Its the best way. There was a camera fair here last weekend and I refused to go, just so I didnt spend my money. But then again.. This sounds like it might be worth going to. As they say.. 'you never know if you never ever go' 😉

Thank you for the offer. Canon 40mm stuff has been quite a trip to look for here in the US. I think I have scratched up all that I need at this time, but again, thank you for the offer.

Actually, I would love a report of all the goodies that you find there.

I'm not sure I can handle knowing that such an event exists. I'm going to try to forget about it straight away... but just before I do... is this an annual fair?

you know, i was in japan last summer and couldn't really find much in the way of used camera gear, but then not knowing where to look really factored into that.

have a great time there and i wish i was back in Japan...

Ok,

I would be interested in some 48mm Canon metal hoods (up to 4 in quantity) for QL-17 GIII. I would also be interested in 40.5mm yellow, orange and red filters (up to 3 each in quantity). I'm not sure that shipping to the States will make this reasonable, but if you find a box load of these items for , oh, say $1, I would be very, very interested.

Seriously, though I would like to accquire these items.

Wayne

i might be interested in a hood for the ql17 as well...hmmm.

and it would be great to play...i have a buddy playing expat rugby in nagoya, he says it is a tonne of fun. i was going to run with them, but their practice days didn't align with my visit to his city (i was staying in Gunma prefecture and went for the sumo...)
