Normally I shoot with a rangefinder, but every once in a while I pull out the Leica SL2 and give it a go. I had not used the 35mm f2.8 Elmarit-R and recently picked one up. I had heard that it was a low contrast lens that was a little soft.
To my suprise, using Kodak BW400CN @ asa200, it turned out to be a little gem.
Looks like the US Post Office took a little acid when they painted the Box
Also a shot of the San Jose Museum of Art.
Both images along with the rest of the roll are the same. Nice contrast and image sharpness, with a minimal adjustment in photoshop after scanning

Nice pics, cute mailbox! The 35 Biogon for Contax G somehow developed a reputation like that, too, with reality differing. It might be that the negative comments come from contrasting the lens to even more outstanding lenses in the same line... Have fun!

Nice shots! I have actually heard the opposite about the lens...I have heard that it is better than the summicron for the R series. I have the 35/1.4 R and love it. It is not nearly as sharp or contrasty as the 35/1.4 ASPH for the M series, but it has a lovely character to it; it seems like the 35/2.8 has a similar character, just two stops slower.
