Some interesting pictures in this news item ( including funny pictures of photographers with their gear ):

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/11/the_presidency_of_jfk_50_years.html

I always wondered, in picture 3, the 2 guys in the middle are holding something with 3 lenses on a rotating plate. Are those still camera's or movie camera's? Is this just a system to change lens quickly or what is it?

Photo #11: looks like the gentleman in the middle (between the kneeling guys) is shooting with a IIIg? Or maybe an M3? Hard to tell. Gentleman on the right looks like an early Hassy SWC.

interesting to see that in 1963, the photographer in the middle of photo 9 used both a Rolleiflex F and a Leica IIIx!
Also seen : an Hasselblad SWC, a "regular" Hassie, 2 Rolleis, a Nikon F (what's the matter with the letter "F"?), an M3, an Exacta...

Some fascinating photos there, and not just because of the cameras on show. 🙂

(Having said that... photo no. 3, the Leica M dead centre - what is that thing stuck on top? A viewfinder? Some sort of periscope attachment? An accessory rangefinder? A flashgun with the reflector folded away? The world's first wireless photo transmitter?)

I really loved the following photo of JFK and Marilyn in a private moment...

Until that is I read the following Snopes posting which debunked it. if it were real it is a lovely (and in fact, loving) photo. Too bad.

Apparently there is only a single photo of them togther and that is not it. The one below is. The rest were confiscated by the secret service. This was being processed and was overlooked.
