Junk shop Leica

At point 4:36 he claims he later found out what camera it was, yet he was willing to spend a good chunk of change by thrift store standards for an unknown quantity camera..

and earlier said he bought a battery and charger for it (kind of hard to do if you don't know what camera model you have) and a cheapo M mount lens from online sites.

Kind of a tall tale if you ask me.

As far as I can remember, my best thrift shop find was a Spotmatic SP with a 1.4 takumar. But I knew what I was buying.

Maybe I`m being naive then .... that just wouldn`t occur to me .
What would be the point of doing something like that and posting a video .

Maybe you are right but its beyond my understanding . :)

Hehe.. never heard this expression before.

An American phrase with what I would hope is a distinctly American source. A cult moved 900 members from San Francisco to the jungles of Central America. Feeling threatened, the cult leader had all the members drink something like Kool-Aid (a high-sugar powder mixed with water) with cyanide in it. Including feeding it to children.

This guy has a good imagination. The "facts" don't fit well here. Getting followers can get you money. It is a game. A show.

First he said he noticed the red dot, which suggests he knew about Leicas. Then he says he didn't know what brand it was. That's when I decided it didn't pass the smell test.

.....still an expensive paperweight at any price

In a word - clickbait.

Typical YouTube fiction. Plenty of it on that woeful site.

To be enjoyed but not believed.

On the other hand, don't we all have our stories of op shop finds...

Wow, you guys are either jaded or jealous!

All the crap on the Internet will do that to you.

I saw that video when it first came out and even I, a big junk shop digger could tell something about the story is off.

I think he meant to say that he knew it was a Leica didn’t know the exact model number until later, when he looked it up. Perfectly believable for the average person who isn’t a Leica fondler.

I do wonder about the back story, how the camera ended up in a thrift store with a broken LCD.
