JUpiter 12

The J-12 and J-8s are the best bet in FSU lenses, offering incredible results for the money. Congrats, and shoot!

It is a nice lens! I own two in Kiev/Contax mount, one silver from 1966, one black from 1975 :giggle:
Go out and shoot you'll be very happy!

I think they are one of the best FSU lenses! I use a hood when I've got a filter on mine. I have one each in LTM and Kiev mount. You might want a viewfinder; I don't especially need one with the Zorki 3m but find one very useful with the Kiev 4a and FED 5.

Advice? Use it! The J-12 is an excellent lens - I have been stalking Melbourne, where I am currently on a business trip with a Zorki 1 and a J 12. The great advantage with the J 12 is that with the wide depth of field and a reasonable aperture, you do not have to focus and suffer from viewfinder squint. I have 4 rolls of FP4 thus far and only 5 days to go. I also have one for my Kiev 4a/Contax. Holding your hand to shade the lens may be useful if you can shoot with one hand, as it does flare on occasion.

Thx people, the fed 3 already looks very handsome with it

One more question, i aslo wanted to get another lens between 100, 150 mms, the guy i'm dealing with told me it's already hard to find an FSU lens and i think it's quite impossible to get such a lens for a fed/zorki...

Hopw true is that??

Look for a Jupiter 11 - 135/4. A very nice long lens in Kiev mount and simple enough that the LTM version shouldn't have some of the problems of the Jupter 3 and 9 lenses. Should be fairly cheap, too.

William

I have a Sonnar 135/4 in Contax mount which cost a lot more than the $30 + shipping I paid for a Jupiter 11, also 135/4. If you can find it go for it.

Nomade,
There is a thread in the 35mm classified section you might check out: it's "Free Industar-61 and Jupiter-9 lenses"
The J-9 isn't 100 mm but if you get a good one it is a nice portrait length. And the price is right on these if you are the lucky person!

Comapring it to the industars is unfair to them :D

I'm not sure if it's me who got used to the 200 film or what, but it's very neat, i've had a canon truly automatic, and an slr yashica and another dutch camera which name i can't remember, but its best wouldn't match that!

Some samples, it's true the quality is not less than 300 dpi, and the later ones were 150 dpi or so, but even when the scan quality was law, they looked the same...I've made a quick scan for a couple of photos here they r...And i'll later upload some to the gallery, the thing is that maybe i'm just exaggerating cause i'm happy this lens is finally mine(the guy told me keep it and test it, and if u like it, pay for it!)...

One more Q do i need a hood?? Some pics are just having some white(due to light nothing else) in the bottom corner...
