Yes, it's GAS.
I got me one quite recently but haven't really been able to test it properly. I'll wait for my RD1 to come.

I thought GAS was what you got when you had lots of steak with onions, hmm...
I had considered getting a Jupiter 3 f/1.5; I really think that the f/2 is much better. Before the Gallery info got screwed up, you could do searches based on lenses used; I saw lots of samples taken with the Jupiter 50mm f/2, and it was pretty nice; couldn't find one with the Jupiter-3 f/1.5, but the consensus out there is that it's not that great, the f/2 is better.
They're also harder to find in good condition; the Jupiter 50mm f/2 is easier to find in good or very good condition. My twopence.

Well I guess I got a good one, as I am quite pleased with mine. See link to photo taken with it, in my prevoious post above.

Cameras are like bunnies
I own a Jupiter-3 and I'm very happy with it. Consensus is that you have to be lucky to get a good example, but I got lucky the first time (unlike my Jupiter-9, where I had to buy 2 to get a good one). I think this was taken with the J-3 (not 100% sure since the gallery-info got lost) on a Leica CL.

I have both and like both. The Jupiter 8 is a late-model black version that is coated and has very nice color saturation. The Jupiter 3 is a silver version, don't think I've ever seen one in black, and is not as contrasty but I use it primarily with black and white and with filters. I really like it on the Bessa R because it is heavy enough to keep it from tilting inward when I carrry it around my neck. The image below was taken with the J3. I think it was stopped down a bit so the details in the bricks is all there.

I bought 3 jupiter 3. The third one is still on the way. The first two had problems. One had a loose the middle element (I could hear rattling when I shook the lens) and the locking ring was kind of jammed. The second one did not collimate to kiev body (out of focus anytime). Both were dirty inside and out. The FSU sellers really sell junk stuff at premium prices. I'm kind of handy and have a full set of lens tool. I turned two junk lenses into good ones as they should be. It did take a while to fix the second one. I had to grind down the spacer for the whole optical assembly.

Bought one J 3 -- sold it. Bought another -- sold it. You give up a lot of picture quality for a little more speed when compared to the J-8. On the other hand, the f1.5 on my Contax II is a nice lens.
