Hi, does anyone know if my bessa r3a or T or zorki 6 would take a Jupiter-6? There are m39 Lenses but, WOW they're giant.
Input is appreciated!

The Jupiter 6 is a Soviet lens for SLRs. Some of the early ones had M39 mounts but a fifferent LTF distance than the rangefiner cameras

Komura made a 200 many years ago, but I can't think of any others, and I've been using R/F's for nearly 50 years. Contax with its longer rangefinder base had a 180mm Tele Tessar pre-war and the ultra rare 180mm Olympic Sonnar (first version) Other longer lenses were the 153mm Ektar for the Kodak Ektra, they planned a 250mm lens but it was never got past the design stage. The Ektra had one of the longest R/F baselengths in 35mm. The problem is the short baselength of the LTM cameras in general, even 135 is beginning to push it!

Thanks, I'm also wondering about the tair-11 f2.8. they made those in m39, but I don't know if they were intended for or will work with my LTM gear !!
thanks

I'm afraid not, I checked the KMZ official archive site (in russian!) this again is a lens for the Zenith SLR. Very confusingly the Russians used the 39mm lens mount for R/F and SLR cameras for a while. The SLR lenses will not work on the R/F cameras and the R/F lenses if they fit will not focus to infinity. There are only two long focus lenses for the LTM the 85mm and 135mm Jupiters.triplefinger said:Thanks, I'm also wondering about the tair-11 f2.8. they made those in m39, but I don't know if they were intended for or will work with my LTM gear !!

I don't have much experience with the 135mm but the J-9 85mm is fabulous. It has the same characteristics as the J-8: creamy bokeh, very good colour rendition, and sharp without being harsh.
Stick it an R-D1 and it'll have the crop of a 135mm.

I agree, the 135 is excellent as well. I have two 135's the Jupiter and a late model Canon r/f 135. The Jupiter is by far the better of the two, far less inclined to flare, also the front does not rotate when you focus. The Canon does this, and the rotating part has the aperture adjustment on it, which is a real pain in the a*** when you meter and constantly have to readjust the focus. It also takes the near impossible to find 48mm filter size.
