Hi,

Something I've always liked about the CL is the meter switch being the film advance lever. I've always wondered why no one else has ever mentioned it or admired it.

So I guess you are all under 40 and think it normal to put btteries in meters and cameras and switch then on and off? But (sighs) I don't; I guess it's old age, again.

Anyone else noticed it?

Regards, David

Same as the Nikon FM series. Makes it easy to switch the meter on and off. Also makes it easy to get poked in the face, snag the camera on its own strap and so on. There are advantages and disadvantages. My CLE has an odd little switch on the left front that controls the meter and self-timer. Not ideal, and different from any other camera I've worked with. Still haven't found a meter switch on the M4P, but I'm hopeful. :)

I agree that the setup for power switch for the meter on CL is great design. Not only is it on only when the film-advance lever is out, but meter turns off as soon as shutter is fired. Then, it will only turn on again when the film is advanced. What a battery saver that is.
