Well-known
Hi there,
my apologies if i'm repeating myself, but my earlier post this morning has completely disappeared!
anyhow, i'm a complete newbie. just bought a hi matic 7s. appeared to be working until halfway through the film when it jammed and refused to wind the film forward. the film was destroyed when i tried to get it out so i have no idea how the pictures might have turned out.
after winding the lever for a while, its seems to be a whole lot smoother. might try to put another roll through.
the body is in good shape, apart from a slightly dented film advance winder. if i manage to source another lever, how difficult is it for me to attempt this repair myself? any instructions out there?
the lens on the camera seems to be free from spots or fungus but the viewfinder has small patches. Should i do a 'CLA'? how much should i expect to pay? any recommendations in sydney?
i bought this camera off ebay for $20 so i dont really want to spend too much to get it going. but i think i'm already hooked on this whole RF thing! spending way too much time on this forum and other RF sites.
Thanks!

Good camera. I like my 7s, very sharp lens. This camera is not very complicated so you should be able to take the winder off and the top cover off to clean the RF glass. Check with Classic Camera site:

There is a repair forum and articles about repairing cameras. I don't believe there is an article the 7s but there are other similar type cameras discussed. You can download the owners manual for it there.
Enjoy the camera. My avatar and other balloon pictures in my gallery were shot with my 7s.
